Amalfi sideboard
The rounded shapes of the Amalfi are reminiscent of the 1950s, the golden age of Italian design.
Designer: Marina Bani, Marco Penati
In reality, the initial push was the desire to do away with the habitual models of construction in which the logical assembly of base, shoulders and top dictate the design rules and forcibly lead to the usual square shapes.
Thus the Amalfi was born out of the desire to move away from these formal limitations: it is made from an exclusive curved plywood uniting the horizontal and vertical parts of the furniture in a continuous manner. The seams are out of sight, the sides are free from squareness…
A piece of furniture without edges, par excellence. Reinvented shapes going beyond the usual clichés, even as regards the finishing.
